I was responsible for the build and development of this site, working from designs supplied by Trigger Global. Being longtime fans of Seth Rogen and totally amused by the concept of the film, this site was a joy to work on; not to mention with the great folks at Trigger Global!
Sausage Party, the first R-rated CG animated movie, is about one sausage leading a group of supermarket products on a quest to discover the truth about their existence and what really happens when they become chosen to leave the grocery store. The film features the vocal talents of a who's who of today's comedy stars - Seth Rogen, Kristen Wiig, Jonah Hill, Bill Hader, Michael Cera, James Franco, Danny McBride, Craig Robinson, Paul Rudd, Nick Kroll, David Krumholtz, Edward Norton, and Salma Hayek.
I assisted in the front-end development of the site, augmenting the work completed by Trigger Global.
Lionsgate's Deepwater Horizon, based on the tragic 2010 event, tells the heroic story of the brave men and women whose courageous actions helped save countless lives on board.
Print work I designed for alcohol brand Montenegro. These are double-sided recipe cards, an ingredients insert, envelope, and online registration screen.
Lord Mesa is an amazing illustrator with a huge cult following. He is famous for his chibi style drawings and humorous narratives on pop culture, movies, and tv. He asked me to create a web presence to serve as a hub for his fans. For the first time, he has a robust and dynamic website which chronicles all of his work. The site is full of animation to make it fun. I also built a bunch of custom admin tools for him to manage the content.
In addition to designing the identity and website for Needluxe, I also developed a custom patient management system.
I worked with a great agency out of New Jersey, called "1 Trick Pony" to deliver a custom experience for TCM's annual 31 Days of Oscar campaign. 1 Trick Pony created a great design that made working on the project a fun exercise. This site presented films in a fun format where each film is be linked by a common performer. In the game mode, you make as many connections as you can before time runs out. The site was fully responsive and flush with custom animation.
I approached Mathieu Raynault, a successful and respected matte painter, about a redesign of the Raynault VFX website. These are some of the set of comps I came up with to present my approach for the website overhaul.
In a nutshell, a user can traverse the site horizontally and vertically. Using page up/down and navigational arrows allows you to progress through vertically. Swipe, Drag, and navigational arrows allow you to progress horizontally. The site would be built in a way where the Browser does not reload the page so content will transition and animate to create a fluid user experience. The main navigation will be globally available and will change to reflect the section you are in.
For galleries, related content to the active item you are viewing is represented by nodes along vertical stems which extend below the content. An average of 3 nodes per stem will start inset from the bottom left of the active content and be repeated towards the right respectively based on available content in that category or project. Galleries may be filtered by project or by category. At any time you can switch these filters using the main navigation. When the filters are engaged, an overlay will fade in over content and the filter menu (categories, projects) will be presented. When an active image/video is hovered, the metadata for that item will be presented in the center of the image against an 80% opaque black which will cover the image. For categorical items, a call-to-action to browse/jump to the related project for the active image will be shown in the lower-right below the image.
For the CREDITS section, the background will be a slideshow featuring an array of artwork.
Envisioning a hub for Christian artists
Would you like to play a game?
I concepted a game for a company recently acquired by Verizon for 2.4 billion. This was a contest-based marketing effort for its customers and clients alike.
Since I release music under my Living Machine artist alias, I need art and merch.
Here are some of the things I have designed for LM.
James Rollins is the author of the bestselling Sigma Force series (Sandstorm, Map of Bones, Black Order, The Judas Strain, The Last Oracle, The Doomsday Key, The Devil Colony, Bloodline and The Eye of God); six individual adventure thrillers; the blockbuster movie novelization, Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull; Tucker Wayne Series, The Sanguines Series and the Jake Ransom middle grade series. The tenth Sigma Force adventure, The 6th Extinction, debuted August 12th, 2014.
James called me to reinvent his Web presence; to create a more engaging and robust destination for information. The site is a beast, consisting of more than 400 pages, book pages available in multiple languages, a responsive user experience, media, and exclusive hidden content for his vast community of fans. A massive suite of custom admin tools was developed to control almost every aspect of the site, architected with Wordpress and Pods. In addition, as part of the effort, a re-branding was also undertaken; resulting in a new logo and by extension a refresh of other online/offline collateral/communication elements.
A new way to "get around"
I created a new version of the 91 Express Lanes website for the OCTA. The new site is completely managed via a Wordpress backend.
My wife is a brilliant author. She releases novels under the name J.L. Shepard.
I worked on the cover art for both editions. Do yourself a favor and buy a copy of her book on Amazon!
Design, Front-End, Back-End
Encyclopedia of Surfing is the largest online resource of surf history in the world
A massive amount of development went into the architecture and build of EncyclopediaOfSurfing.com. This site is a destination for everything you ever wanted to know about the history, people, companies, and culture surrounding the sport of surfing. Structured as an encyclopedia, all of this info is available to user in an A-Z index. The site also showcases all those who have contributed and supported the gathering of this information. Additionally, functionality was added to allow users to "sponsor" individual pages on the site ("this page is brought to you by ____") based on a tiered fee structure, as a way to cultivate user support and interaction.
The site's vision and content is primarily the result of the passion of Matt Warshaw who has spent the majority of his life as a surf historian. Just look him up! He is an authority on the subject.
